Ger Doornink (1949), born in Amsterdam and currently living and working in The Netherlands, graduated from the Art Academy Arnhem in 1973.
He commenced his career as a fashion photographer. He was located in Tokio and later in Milan, where he became familiar with the artworks of Italian old masters. This, and his fascination for women’s inner and outer beauty, inspired him to fully dedicate his time to painting. Rembrandt, the Dutch old master that dominated the art of playing with light and darkness in paintings, also is a source of inspiration for the artist. Doornink paints portraits in monumental sizes, that are one of a kind.
