Overview

Rotganzen

Founded in 2009, Rotganzen is a renowned Dutch art collective created by Robin Stam, Joeri Horstink, and Erik Schilp. Known for its strong ties to American Pop Art and the Italian Radical Design movement, the collective focuses on transforming everyday objects into intricate, thought-provoking pieces of art. Their work often evokes themes of nostalgia, joy, and decay, particularly in their famous "Quelle Fête" series, which reimagines melting disco balls as symbols of both the exuberance and fleeting nature of nightlife. The collective's pieces play with ideas of memory and loss, infusing pop culture icons with deeper, melancholic undertones.

Concept and Vision

Rotganzen aims to blur the lines between high art and everyday objects, infusing familiar items like disco balls with deeper emotional resonance. Their work is not only visually striking but also rich with cultural commentary, often reflecting on the passage of time, nostalgia, and societal change. Their intricate use of color and materials contrasts with the simplicity of their forms, creating a balance between conceptual depth and visual playfulness.
