Marjolein Verstappen
Biography
Marjolein Verstappen lives and works in Heeze, the Netherlands. She paints and makes collages using painted, found, and discarded paper. She creates colourful, poetic spaces and worlds where one can escape and get lost. “My aim is to take the viewer on a journey to a place where beauty and wonder can be experienced. I hope my work can provide a moment of peace and beauty in a sometimes overwhelming world.”
In her work, Marjolein playfully seeks balance in colour and form. Stripping away the unnecessary, and sensitive but with bold and vibrant colour usage, she aims to offer a glimpse of her inner world. Experimenting with paint and various materials, simply enjoying the process, holds significant importance in her artistic approach.
Marjolein has a background in Communication and Graphic Design, but a few years ago, she made the decision to pursue her dream of focusing solely on art. This year, she is graduating from the Art Academy Arendonk in Belgium.
