ELEMENTS FROM DAILY LIFE

Quinn Zeljak's work exists of recognizable elements from daily life, pop-culture or the collective memory. She creates works that play with those associations. She not trying to tell a story, however. By taking her visual interests out of their context she removes all narrative and traces of time. She places them next to other elements that, at first glance, have nothing to do with each other. She breaks the associations she has created and attempt to create a feeling of alienation. These feelings of alienation and dissociation have always been a throughline in her work.
