Coen Derickx (1988) was born in Zutphen and is currently working and living in the Netherlands as an experimental visual artist.

Playing with natures forces

Coen Derickx has developed his own technique to shape faux-fur, inspired by the act most of us have tried as a child, namely to submerge our head under water and observing how our hair is shaped when we emerge from the water again.

Trough the force of water, together with air and gravity the hair is shaped, this indirect technique uses forces of nature, which trough concise action and experimentation are surprisingly controllable.

The organic shapes and expressive colors you can see in the works have the power to stimulate fantasies and are able to conjure many divergent associations.
