Chris Rijk 

Chris Rijk (1995) is a Dutch visual artist and ceramicist whose work playfully explores themes of identity, sexuality, and craftsmanship. He graduated cum laude from the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht in 2017 and has since established a distinctive style that combines the rich traditions of Delft Blue ceramics with contemporary and often provocative imagery. His work frequently includes erotic and gay themes, challenging the boundaries between traditional craft and modern, critical content.

Rijk’s use of ceramics as a medium extends beyond conventional forms like vases and plates. He often introduces new and unexpected objects, such as ceramic slippers, that push the limits of this well-known Dutch craft. His artwork serves as both a homage to the skills of traditional craftsmen and a critique of contemporary society through whimsical combinations of text and imagery.
