Kiki van Eijk
Kiki van Eijk is a celebrated figure in Dutch design, renowned for her whimsical and poetic approach that beautifully marries traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics. Born in 1978 in Tegelen, The Netherlands, van Eijk graduated cum laude from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2000. It was during her studies there that she met her partner, Joost van Bleiswijk, with whom she often collaborates. Her work stands as a testament to the essence of Dutch design, blending nostalgia with modernity to create pieces that are as evocative as they are visually striking. All of her creations are produced at the Textiellab, part of the TextielMuseum in Tilburg.
Artistic Vision and Craftsmanship
Kiki's world is characterized by a vivid imagination and attention to the smallest details of everyday life. Her work is personal and expressive, often drawing inspiration from nature and ordinary objects, transforming them into extraordinary pieces. She is renowned for her use of rich textures and materials, creating a wide range of works including carpets, lighting, furniture, ceramics, glassware, and textiles. She has collaborated with prestigious brands such as Hermès, Saint-Louis, 1882 Ltd, MOOOI, Häagen-Dazs, Serax, Bernhardt Design, and Nodus. Her partnerships extend to esteemed institutions like Studio Edelkoort Paris, the Design Academy Eindhoven, Venice Projects, the Audax Textile Museum, the Zuiderzee Museum, the Noord Brabants Museum, and the Rijksmuseum.
