Linda Zimmermann

Linda Zimmermann (b. 1998, Germany) is a young multidisciplinary talent, a recent graduate from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie (2026), who established her practice in Amsterdam. Her work takes the form of semi-functional objects and relief works, with ceramics at its core. She combines clay with materials such as wood, metal, glass, flock, and found objects, creating tactile works that invite sensory engagement and a closer relationship with their material qualities.
Zimmermann’s practice explores the connection between humans and the physical world that surrounds them. Her work reflects on a growing sense of disconnection from natural resources, from one another, and from embodied experience, while considering how deeply human life is entangled with the materials and environments we inhabit. Minerals, metals, water, organic matter, and everyday objects become points of departure for exploring these relationships.
With a background in illustration and graphic design, Zimmermann brings a playful and narrative approach to her practice. Motifs, characters, and stories emerge from her daily observations, encounters with nature, and the familiar and unfamiliar environments around her. Through this interplay of material experimentation and visual storytelling, her works move between object and image, function and imagination.
