Jouni Toni is a Finnish artist whose work explores the relationship between memory, perception, and pictorial space. Born in 1984 and based in Tampere, his practice is primarily rooted in painting, while also extending into three-dimensional objects and digital animation. Through this multidisciplinary approach, he investigates how images can construct experiential environments rather than fixed representations.

Toni’s paintings are built from a combination of personal observations, memories, and imagined scenarios. Rather than depicting specific narratives, his works present compositions populated by characters and forms that function as archetypes—condensed expressions of experience that move between the real and the imagined. These elements are arranged within carefully constructed pictorial spaces, where logic and perspective remain fluid.

A defining aspect of his work is the balance between material presence and conceptual openness.
