Simone Post
Simone Post is a Rotterdam-based multidisciplinary designer whose work explores the transformation of material through process, colour, and experimentation. Born in Utrecht in 1990, she graduated cum laude from the Design Academy Eindhoven, where she developed a practice rooted in textile and material research. Her work reflects a continuous exploration of how everyday and discarded materials can be reimagined into new forms.
Central to Post’s practice is an experimental and process-driven approach. Often described as a “professional tinkerer,” she works through making, testing, and repetition, allowing unexpected outcomes to shape the final result. This open-ended methodology places emphasis on discovery rather than predefined design, resulting in objects that carry a sense of playfulness and innovation.
Material transformation is a defining aspect of her work. Post frequently works with existing or discarded materials, exploring how they can be manipulated, reassembled, and given new value. Through techniques such as cutting, layering, and reconfiguring, she develops compositions that challenge conventional ideas of waste and production. This approach reflects a broader interest in sustainability, not only as a concept but as an integral part of the design process.
Her work is characterized by a vibrant visual language, combining bold colour, texture, and pattern. Whether working with textiles, ceramics, or mixed materials, she creates objects that blur the line between functional design and sculptural expression. These pieces often retain a tactile quality, inviting interaction while maintaining a strong visual identity.
Collaboration plays an important role in her practice. Post has worked with a range of international brands, translating her material-driven approach into diverse contexts. Across these projects, she maintains a consistent focus on experimentation and transformation, adapting her process to different scales and applications.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, most recently at Ukraine’s Pinchuk Art Centre, during the Venice Biennale 2026, and is recognised for its distinctive combination of material innovation and visual clarity. Through her practice, Post contributes to a broader dialogue on the future of design, where sustainability, experimentation, and imagination intersect.
