The first monograph on the dazzling dexterity of the polymath designer Satyendra Pakhalé
Selected as one of L’Uomo Vogue magazine’s 80 most influential creative people, Indian designer Satyendra Pakhalé (born 1967) stands at the intersection of countless design currents, from technology, mobility and home appliances to furniture, architecture and design and art. MoMA senior curator Paola Antonelli has said of his work: “No matter how abstract the form, it shows that Satyendra Pakhalé … is a champion of a new chapter in the history of design.”
Satyendra Pakhalé: Culture of Creation is the first comprehensive monograph on the designer. Twelve essays by leading design thinkers, Juhani Pallasmaa, Paola Antonelli, Jacques Barsac, René Spitz, Tiziana Proietti, Aric Chen and Stefano Marzano, illustrate the worldview underpinning the designer’s “culture of creation.” Contributions from leading industry figures, such as Alberto Alessi, Giulio Cappellini, Cristiano Crosetta and Vittorio Livi, portray him at work, and photographs give insight into his studio practice and his work.
The monograph illustrates the artist’s journey by placing his work in the cultural, artistic, and intellectual context to which it belongs, and to which it always returns. At the same time, it anticipates what is yet to come.28.2 × 22.4 × 3.3 cmEdition of 150Currency:Further images
