Onno Adriaanse

Onno Adriaanse (*1991) is a Dutch designer, who founded his studio in Eindhoven in 2016 after graduating from the Design Academy Eindhoven. Working at the intersection of design and art, he creates sculptural objects and refined interior applications that balance functionality with emotional experience. His practice is rooted in a hands-on, material-driven approach, where each project begins with a fascination for the inherent qualities of a material, resulting in expressive, sensorial works defined by craftsmanship and conceptual depth.
Drawing inspiration from landscapes and geological processes, Adriaanse translates his early fascination with natural elements into designs that echo organic forms, textures, and colours. His work bridges traditional craftsmanship and contemporary techniques, with the hand remaining visibly present in each piece. Through immersive objects and surfaces, he creates contemplative environments that offer a counterpoint to the speed of the digital age, reconnecting the viewer to materiality, rhythm, and the quiet presence of the natural world.
Hedera Collection
A collection inspired by climbing plants and their remarkable ability to cover entire surfaces, or grow meters high by winding around trees or other objects. Ivy (Hedera), a fast-growing, woody plant found all over the world, embodies this idea perfectly. Its young shoots are slender, flexible, and equipped with rootlets to cling to surfaces, while its mature branches become thick, self-supporting, and rootless. The concept of an organism growing over something else became the foundation for the Hedera Collection. Onno envisioned furniture being overtaken by another form. How would that appear? Is it a fusion of two entities, or does one clearly take control? Could the growing form eventually stand alone, or would it always need its host?
Dawn Collection
Dawn is a collection of solid wooden furniture embodying the serenity of early mornings. It’s all about the combination of solid oak with a gradual color shift. Starting with a serene, dark color the oak wood transforms, revealing a gradual fade into a transparent finish. This combination creates a captivating play of color and transparency that catches the eye.
