Studio Job

Studio Job was founded in 1998 by Job Smeets (1960), born in Hamont, Belgium. In 2000, he was joined by Nynke Tynagel (1977), born in Bergeijk. Both of the artists studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven and are currently based in both Belgium and The Netherlands.

They redefine the applied arts for the contemporary age. With their unique and innovative sculptures, the duo combines an extraordinarily high level of craftsmanship with extreme ornamentation, while also managing to give their designs a humorous twist. They reference both the traditional and the topical, the organic and the artificial. Studio Job’s work is widely collected both in the private and public sectors. Their designs are added to more than 40 museum collections all over the world. A few examples of museums that bought their work are the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Groninger Museum in Groningen, and the Cooper Hewitt in New York City.
