Johannes Langkamp
Johannes Langkamp
Johannes Langkamp (*1985, Steinfurt, Germany) is a Rotterdam-based new media artist whose work revolves around the playful exploration of perception and visual experience. His artistic practice involves creating kinetic sculptures, videos, and spatial installations, often questioning and broadening our understanding of reality. Langkamp's work merges process and outcome, with a particular focus on experimentation and discovery, always aiming to challenge the viewer’s habitual ways of seeing.
Kinetic Art
Langkamp’s fascination lies in everyday moments that spark curiosity. By asking "what if" questions about seemingly ordinary objects and scenarios—such as dropping a sheet of paper from a building—he transforms these ideas into kinetic models and video installations that invite viewers to experience space, movement, and perception in entirely new ways. His work often balances order with chaos, combining symmetry and structure with unexpected, dynamic elements.
