Ted Noten: Me and My Table

10 December 2020 - 30 January 2021
Overview

VANITAS

8 works, each of which forms a comment on my outlook on the world, without wanting to set specific parameters. These works are material sketches, taking the size of a table piece, which allows them to tell their story in manageable dimensions.

They are all permeated with life, yet never pretend to contain a moral or to be intended to tell an all-encompassing story. These are little notes that invited me to translate them into  plastic form – to build my own small story.

I hope they will reverberate with others and touch on universal values and assumptions. I thank Marcel Duchamps who inspired me with this statement: “I force myself to contradict myself in order to avoid conforming to my own taste”.

These works have been composed from widely differing materials. But each is accompanied by a dead animal, hence the Vanitas reference.

Me and my Submarine

Me and my submarine drops you straight on to the highway that is inherent to my
creation process. Pien Rademakers Gallery is haphazardly filled, mimicking the way
the works roam around my studio.
Objects, sketches, turning points and golden rings seduce you like a kid in a candy
shop.
