Monique Eller (1965), born in Zwolle and currently living and working in The Netherlands, graduated from the Academy of Photography Amsterdam in 2009.
She specializes in portraits and still lifes, which she approaches with a seventeeth-century style, while managing to add a twenty-first century twist. This results in a somewhat disruptive, sometimes provocative, image. Eller’s photography often visualizes the vanity and transience of earthly existence. The use of contrasts in dark and light strongly highlight her topics, which creates a high level of intensity. The artist creates powerful images with a strong message.
